What’s next for David Silva? – Stats of A Premier League Legend

In August 2010 David Silva made his Premier League debut. The second largest transfer fee of the 2010 window, behind only former teammate David Villa, big things were expected from the Spaniard.

Needless to say, he surpassed all expectations. What seemed like a big fee at the time, £25 million now stands as one of the deals of the century. 10 years on, City have signed some outstanding players. But the contribution of the playmaker cannot be understated.

David Silva has been one of the most consistent, and spectacular players in the history of the Premier League. Instrumental in his side’s success, he has made himself a legend.

What’s next for Silva?

Looking to depart as a legend, Silva would not have thought his City career would end this way. He inherited the captaincy from Vincent Kompany, and an incomplete season as his last would be a disappointment.

Many clubs will be looking to sign the Spaniard. I previously included Silva as one of 6 Stars Who Might Not Play for Their Clubs again. Links to AC Milan were being murmured.

Anther option could be joining David Beckham’s newly created MLS side – Inter Miami. A chance to grow the David Silva brand, and explore new styles of football, the USA is getting a name as the ‘retirement home’ for many stars.

Recently though, there have been links to former club, Valencia. A fitting end, the midfielder could go full circle and return to where it all started. Rumours are a 3 year deal has been discussed. But, as mentioned in this article from Man City News, complications may arise with his current contract at Manchester City. It is difficult to plan, as we still don’t know the outcome of the current season.

Wherever he ends up, David Silva will eave as a Man City, and Premier League legend. The midfield magician, he has brought joy to all who watched. ¡Buena suerte, David!
