Despite the Premier League season only being 2 games in, we are already starting to see some young potential stars. Southampton right-back Tino Livramento has caught the eyes of many already, and he has the statistics to back it up. The 18-year-old has already made a mark on the South Coast club, displacing fellow youngster Kyle Walker-Peters.

Chelsea Career

Valentino Livramento grew up a Chelsea fan having been born and raised in Croydon. And in 2009 he signed to the academy from the age of just 7 years old. The young right-back worked his way up, eventually settling in the Chelsea academy, where he flourished.

Livramento’s statistics were impressive. According to Chelsea last year

“Starting 26 of 30 eligible games, the Croydon-born youngster is the top appearance-maker across all Academy competitions this term.

 He has amassed an impressive 2,261 minutes of football, lasting the duration in all but five games. Along the way there has been two Premier League 2 goals, a maiden Youth Cup goal and a host of assists for the wing-back.”

And this didn’t go unnoticed, as the young Englishman was named Chelsea Academy Player of the Year for 2020/2021, and is among impressive company:

All this caught the eye of manager Thomas Tuchel, as the youngster earned a spot on the bench in Premier League fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

However, off the pitch, his contract negotiations fell through allowing Livramento to leave the club. With both Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as A.C. Milan and RB Leipzig chasing for his signature, Livramento was a wanted man

Livramento Statistics – Southampton

In August 2021, the 18-year-old signed for Southampton. And Livramento’s statistics in a red and white shirt have already impressed.

In just 180 minutes, he has averaged 2.5 tackles/game, and made 3 clearances/game.

His talent really shone through in the impressive man-of-the-match v Man United.

According to information released by Southampton, Livramento put down these impressive statistics

  • 6 interceptions
  • Won 6 duels
  • 3 successful dribbles
  • Pass completion rate of 86%.

Bright Future

Livramento looks to have a bright future ahead of him. Already seeming to start ahead of exciting Kyle Walker-Peters who, at 24 years old made that spot his own last season

However, Chelsea knew the worth of the youngster, and were smart with their business. They inserted a buy back clause of £25 million, which could end up being a bargain for the youngster who is already worth £4.5 million

The wing-back has also represented England up to under-20 level, and captained the England under-17 side

A player that loves getting forward, playing in the 5 at the back for Southampton has allowed Livramento the freedom to get forward. He impressed with his fearless, blistering runs against Manchester United, and even came close to assisting a goal. He is certainly an exciting player to watch.

Hasenhuttl Reserved

However, boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has remained reserved and urges fans not to get carried away, saying:

“At first I must say I am happy for him and for us, for us as a club we get one of the best talented youngsters in England.

“We know he has a lot of potential, he has made now two games, don’t hang him too high.

“I know how quick people are starting to lift him but he has a lot of things to learn.

“But he has everything, he has the body, the speed, the quality on the ball. This is a good combination and it’s on us to work with him.”
