Timo Werner is not going anywhere this summer according to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
The striker has had a difficult time adapting to English football following his transfer from RB Leipzig last summer. The German has scored just two goals in his last 26 Chelsea appearances, and totalled just 5 Premier League goals this season. This has lead many to question whether Werner will ever be able to make it in England.
Tuchel joined the Blues as manager in January following the departure of club legend Frank Lampard. Since joining, the German manager is unbeaten in his first 10 games for the club. However, with Kai Havertz starting as striker (which we have previously shown he can do), is there a spot for Werner?
“Stop reading! Read a book!”
Tuchel was asked about the fate of his inherited striker in a press conference today, and his reaction was fiery according to Sky Sports
“Stop reading! Read a book!
“There is no book on Timo, so read a book! For Timo, I think he has no reason now to be frustrated because he played an amazing match against Liverpool, maybe his best match since I arrived.”
Will Timo Werner find his Form?
The German striker is a bit different to the strikers Chelsea have had in recent years. The German is quick, dynamic and a hard worker.
We wrote about the £53m man last year, and praised him on his work ethic on the pitch, as well as his deadly finishing. If Werner works off the pitch as much as he does on it to find his feet, there is certainly still a place for the 25-year-old.
